How Did We
Get Started?
Well, you're probably not only wondering how, but
when. Well, we began construction on our station back in May of 2008,
right after school got out towards the middle of the month. We then had
our first show, The Celrock Summer Kickoff, originally on Saturday, June 21,
2008, but it was rescheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, due to
technical difficulties that occurred during the first show. Then, our
second show, well, let's just say that it was kind of a make up show.
Originally, DJ Celrock guest starred
on Pulse Radio’s Fourth of July Show, which aired on 7/2, but again, technical
difficulties
arose, causing nobody to get to hear her, or have an archive
to remember the day. Well, turns out that DJ
Celrock had prepared a long playlist in the beginning, that
was too large for her segment on Pulse Radio, so on 7/19, the make up show took
place. Then, because The Battle of the Decades on WTEK was the very first
show that DJ Celrock heard that got
her hooked to the station back in April of 2006, she decided to take her own
spin on things, and on 8/2, she aired what is now known as The Delightful
Decades, a show that contained music in chronological order from the 60's,
70's, 80's and 90's. It was a big hit with the listeners, and was by far
the best show on the air this summer! And finally, to wrap up the summer
season, before having to go back to school and face the real world again,
inspired by WTEK's End of the Summer Extravaganza, Celrock
Radio aired The Final Sensation, which took place on
Saturday, August 16, 2008. It's popularity was unfortunately not as big
as the show that once aired on WTEK, but there was by no doubt that one
listener in particular really showed his support for this station on that
particular show, and thanks to Celrock Radio,
that particular person has come to love Internet radio, which was very boring
to him at one time, before Celrock Radio
ever came into existence.
Then, seeing that the station is now over 6 months old,
we've accomplished so much in that time. We've switched web hosting
providers, had our very first Christmas
show, Celrock's Christmas Cringle,
which aired on 12/13/08, and now, we have a 24 hour server, so we can have
shows done by pretty much anybody in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week! And if nothing else, we hope by our one year anniversary on
6/21/09, we will have accomplished so much more! So much in fact, that
perhaps some listeners out there will consider Celrock
Radio to be the best on the net!
