If you are considering becoming a DJ with us at
As a DJ at
If you are having trouble with anything, such as installing and learning how to use SAM Broadcaster or any other piece of broadcasting software, can’t fill out the application, or just need to sit down and have some one-on-one time with the station owner, DJ Celrock, to go over things and start to feel more comfortable with broadcasting with us, please don’t hesitate to contact her over at our Contact Page, and let her know what’s going on and let her know when it would be good for you to meet with her. It’s possible that our assistant manager and secretary, DJ Tracy, or our technical support assistant, Geno J, may take over this job to help DJ Celrock out when she is not available.
Our Rules and Regulations
Updated as of July 16, 2010, at 1:08 PM Eastern
To ensure that this station can run smoothly, we've set some rules and regulations for people to follow. Not following any of these rules may have you terminated at our disgression. We'll first try to work with you, but failure to work with us will result in your permanent resignation from our station. If you show us that you are working with us, you may be suspended for a period of time, determined by management and outside assistance. Depending on the circumstances, you will get a total of 3 chances before we must terminate you permanently.
1. All staff members and listeners should treat one another with respect. Please be polite with one another and we ask that you keep drama at a minimum at this station.
Note: Anyone caught breaking this rule will be banned from
all Celrock Radio services IMMEDIATELY.
2. We understand that things come up in life and that you may not be able to broadcast sometimes. However, simply not showing up for your show without a valid reason is inexcusable and will get you terminated from our staff team after three consecutive no shows. In other words, three strikes and you’re out. We do ask that if you are unable to broadcast and know in advance, you contact us within 24 to 48 hours so we can find someone to fill in for you. We know that last minute things come up, such as a power outage or you're stuck in traffic on your way home when your show is due to start. However, no matter what the emergency is, please try to let us know as soon as you can once you're able at least within 24 hours after your show has aired so we know you're ok and we don't have to consider terminating you. We have multiple ways here at Celrock Radio to report an absence. You can contact us by email if you have access to a computer, or you may call a staff member via the telephone if you have that staff member’s phone number on hand.
3. All staff members who archive their shows need to get them into the Management Team either by our FTP Server or via Send Space or however you submit your archives, such as posting them to your own website, etc. within 24 hours or so after their show has aired so all listeners and staff members can enjoy the shows after they have aired live on the network. Also, we would appreciate it if in the file name of your archives, you put the date at which the original show aired so people wishing to listen to your archive will know when it originally aired at a glance. If after two consecutive months, you have failed to post your archives and contact listeners and staff about the fact that you are unable to post your archives for that week for one reason or another, or, if we see that you have repeatedly failed to put the date of your show in the file name after 3 reminders to fix them, you will be terminated from our station.
4. All staff who play adult material MUST have adult material possible in their encoder information under the stream title. Those of you who do not play adult material such as strong language, descriptions of sex, etc. may not play such material on their show. If you play such material on your show and management finds out, management will warn you once, and terminate you the second time. If your show contains adult content and you do not have adult content or something similar in your title bar, same rules apply.
5. The length of your shows may be however long you wish for it to be. All we ask is that you be mindful of other DJ's who are scheduled to air on the same day you're broadcasting so that you don't cut into their broadcast time with your show. Also, please make sure you are broadcasting for at least the allotted amount of time you signed up for. There will be no excuse for ending early or starting late, unless it is an emergency or technical issue, or you have contacted listeners and staff about such circumstances ahead of time. If we see this type of behavior continue on a regular basis, after two consecutive months of such tardiness or ending early on a show to show basis, you will be asked to move your show to a new time that will work for you. If you cannot move your show or if this behavior continues when you’ve moved to the new time slot, you will be asked to leave our station, because this type of behavior is simply not acceptable.
6. We here at
7. All DJ's are required to use our messengers, which are AIM, MSN Messenger, and Skype, as well as our encoders, and all of this information will be emailed to you once you have applied to be a DJ at our website. The only exception we will make in terms of the messengers is if you're simulcasting and have messengers that are pretty universal set up, such as your DJ name or something so we can be sure to contact the listeners about this in advance and put the contact info on our contact info page. If you're not simulcasting, please use our master accounts. We do ask that when using our master accounts, that you try to be on at least 2 out of the 3 messengers if it is at all possible. If you can only be on 1 messenger, please let us know and the reasoning behind it, such as a technical issue that prevents you from being on more than 1 messenger at a time so we can make an exception to the rule for you. For those broadcasters who do not, or intend to simulcast, and are required to use our station messengers, if we discover that you are not signed into these messengers during your show, management will warn you once, and the second time we discover that you are not signed into them during your show, we will be having a talk with you in more detail to find out what is going on. Should such behavior continue for a third show, you will be terminated after that, because this obviously shows you are not interested in interacting with the listeners, or express an interest in broadcasting on our station. Only acceptions we will make to this rule is if you are broadcasting on a limited amount of band wits that impairs you from being able to encode and be signed on to our messengers at the same time you’re broadcasting.
8. Because we're allowing syndicating, the stations being
syndicated along with
9. If you are encoding on Celrock Radio only, or are syndicating on three stations or less, you are responsible for encoding your own broadcast, no matter what the circumstances are. If you cannot do your own encoding, or your own archiving for that matter, please leave, because we are not your babysitters.
10. We understand that people sometimes need to take a break, due to personal, technical, and any other kind of valid reasoning. Please let us know as soon as possible and at least within 5 to 7 days before you need to take your long hiatus so we can update our schedule and other things at the station accordingly. While on your hiatus, you will either be put on as a substitute DJ and or if you’re more than a broadcaster at this network, you will still remain under your other titles while you are away. It is also helpful if you know the length of time you are going to be unavailable, if you can also give us at least an estimate as to how long you are going to be gone, and can at least in one way or another, either by email, phone, Skype, etc. keep in contact with us at least once or twice a week with a status of how you are doing, just so we all as a staff team can remain a team, and keep in contact with one another at all times.
11. You have to have fun broadcasting! If you're not having fun, please leave,
because this station is all about having a good time, entertaining listeners,
and simply a great hobby and pass time for us.
Therefore, if you're unhappy, we don't want that here, as it will just
make everybody feel unhappy, and we don't want black clouds at
12. Any outside drama that you are dealing with that has nothing to do with celrock radio must under no uncertain terms be brought forth to the station unless it has a direct or otherwise important relevance to the stations safety and security. Failure to follow this rule will result in a termination of your account if you are also found to have lied and concocted the story your own self. Please note, that Geno J and DJ Tracy investigates this information and will target those lying and or will consult management if emergency action is required. but if this has nothing to do with the station and you do it more than once, you will be thrown out, cause we are not here to serve as a facility for you to forward your drama to. we are a station designed for fun and entertainment of all varieties, and there is to be no disrespect to that.
Note: Anyone found breaking this rule will be banned from all Celrock Radio Services IMMEDIATELY.
13. Any staff member who resigns up to 3 times from Celrock Radio will not be allowed to re apply and their fourth DJ Application will be automatically rejected.
14. If you need to change the time of your show, please let staff and listeners know with at least 5 to 7 days notice, and the reason for moving your show to a new time must be a valid, legitimate reason for the time change of your show. We will only allow a 24 hour notice if a serious last minute emergency comes up, but if you ask to have your show moved to a new time, and your original show is scheduled to air within less than 24 hours after asking for the request, we will not accept it. Failure to follow this rule will get you banned from the staff team at Celrock Radio immediately.
15. We ask that all staff members be checking their station email accounts on a daily to weekly basis. We would also appreciate it if everyone would post something from time to time to the staff and listeners mailing lists. For sure, if you will be missing a show, moving to a new time, or will need cover, please post to the mailing lists. If we discover that you are not checking your mail, and we notice such activity as never posting to the lists, or constantly asking us to resend you important information repeatedly that was recently posted to our staff mailing list, and we discover such behavior continuing for a period of 90 days, you will be terminated from our station, because if you cannot bother to check your station email, or post to the mailing lists from time to time, you are obviously not interested in having any part at this station, and your mailbox is simply filling up with messages that are cluttering our servers, thus, we will not have staff members who waste the space on our servers and expect management to hold your hand and be your babysitter every 30 seconds.
16. Upon applying to be a DJ at our station, if you do not already have an FTP Server Account with us once you have been approved, please sign up for an account within one week after your approval has been emailed to you, or better yet, if your first show is scheduled to air before an entire week is up, please sign up for an account right away so we can have it set up so if you do upload your archives to our server, you will be able to do so after your first broadcast. If you have then failed to sign up for an account within 14 days after being approved, management will remind you that you have not signed up for an account and to do so right away. If by the third week, you still do not have an FTP Server Account with us, you will be terminated from the station, and not allowed to return, because you are obviously not interested in being at this station, because regardless if you upload your archives to our server or submit them in another way, granted, you’ve spoken with management about it first, our FTP Server does offer other things that we may want you to consider playing or that may be of some assistance in being a staff member and or broadcaster at Celrock Radio.
17. We understand that not everyday will be perfect, and there will be those days when it is hard to get along with others, etc. If you are having a problem though, please only bring your problem to management if it is a problem with station related content, such as with your FTP Server account, your email, or technical difficulties with broadcasting. If you have a problem with a fellow staff member, please work it out with that fellow staff member and only get management involved if you and the fellow staff member are unable to work out the problem yourselves. If we find a continuous trend of having problems with fellow staff members, and you continue to run to management, expecting them to be your babysitters and fix the problem for you, and we see this continue over a two month period, you will be asked to leave our station, and not allowed to return, because lack of being able to work out a situation you are having with a fellow staff member that is not on management shows immaturity on your part, and we are not hear to pick up the pieces of your drama. Also, out of kindness, we ask that you do not try to deal with fellow problematic broadcasters while they are doing a show, as that will possibly spoil the show for the broadcaster, and possibly for the listeners if the broadcaster isn’t careful.
18. We have no problem with broadcasters who do speak another language other than English, however, because most of our staff members and listeners speak English, it is required that you do know some English in order to participate well and communicate well with everyone at this station. That doesn’t mean that you can’t speak other languages besides English on the air or with the listeners and staff as well.
19. Please be respectful to management and do not try to take advantage of management at this station. If we see that you are trying to take over management duties without being asked by management to fill such positions, and we see it happening constantly over a period of 6 consecutive months, you will be asked to leave, and unable to return, and in some circumstances, you may be thrown out with no warning, because we have seen such behavior take place to the extreme way too long here, and we’re sorry, but such behavior is no longer accepted at this station, thank you.
20. Any threats, bashing, or violence towards this station is not acceptable. Whether you’re angry because of having to resign, be fired, or whatever the case might be, such complaints such as lack of listeners, threatening to shut the station down, or any other provoking will not be tolerated, and depending on the circumstances, Police reports may be filed if such actions are serious enough. You will also not be let back on as a staff member if you choose to make such complaints and provoking remarks upon a firing or a resignation, because it obviously shows that you are not interested in being a part of Celrock Radio, and we will not have people here who could potentially be a threat to Celrock Radio’s operation and well being. We also do not believe in competing with other stations, thus, comparing for example, our listener base with other stations is not acceptable, and thus, if all you are interested in is competing with other stations and having more listeners than anybody else than just the pure enjoyment of broadcasting and having fun, we will not accept that here, and once you have been removed from our staff team, just know that you will not be allowed to come back after that.
21. If you apply to be a broadcaster post the date and time these rules and regulations were last updated, whether you are an experienced broadcaster or not, before the management team can approve your application, you will be required to have an interview with a member of management to determine if you are capable of doing well at this station. This will give us a chance to get to know you a little bit better, and you will be required to do up to an hour or two of a sample of what your typical show will consist of on our test server, to give us an idea of what you’ll be doing on our station, and to insure that your broadcasting software, etc. is working properly. This interview and scheduled test will be set up post our receiving of your application and it must be done at least 24 hours before your first show is scheduled to air on the station. If we feel that you are not cut out for the station, such as a poor test broadcast, technical or on air wise, failure to get along with the member of management or staff member conducting your interview and test broadcast, and or should you fail to show up for the interview at the time you scheduled it to be at and don’t reschedule to have it at a later time, your application will be rejected, and you will have to wait to try reapplying again for 3 months. Also, if you constantly reschedule your interview, and have not had it within 30 days of applying at our station, you will not only be turned down, but you will be unable to return, because it obviously shows us you are not interested in being a staff member and broadcaster at Celrock Radio after all.
22. Because of this new policy, the staff member who is in charge of conducting the interview and test broadcast must show up promptly on time and contact the perspective new broadcaster at the time scheduled that has been worked out with you and the broadcaster. We will ask that two people be lined up to take on the interview so if one person cannot show up for one reason or another, there is someone to conduct it, but should neither one of the staff members conducting it show up, and nobody is notified of this, in particular, the other members of management, this will be counted as a no show strike, and will follow the same policy as if you miss your own shows, so please keep this in mind if you’ve already missed a show or two before conducting an interview and you know you did not let anybody know of your absence. If you cannot make the interview, you should not only consult management, but should it not work out well for someone else to conduct it at that time, it is also required that you or someone on management work out another time with the perspective broadcaster to do the interview and test broadcast.
23. If you are not applying to be a broadcaster, but are going to be some other position at the station, you will still be required to have an interview with a member of management, minus the test broadcast, and same rules apply, stated in the 2 rules up above.
24. If you resign from Celrock Radio, you must give us your resignation within 24 hours upon the date at which you wish to leave the station if you are not a broadcaster, and if you are a broadcaster, you must resign within at least 48 hours before your final show, and you must do that final show on the station. If you send in your resignation within less than 48 hours, and or you fail to show up for your final broadcast, you will not be allowed to reapply at a later time, because that is basically saying you’re leaving without saying goodbye to the staff members and listeners of the station, and that is considered to be very rude and disrespectful, thus, we will not have that here, nor do we want a broadcaster to return who shows us such disrespectful behavior. Also, you should post to both mailing lists your resignation, and let everyone know when your last show will air so it can be announced in the daily email of the schedule. Should you follow this rule, the number 13 rule will still apply, and you’ll be removed from Celrock Radio within 1 to 5 days post your final broadcast on our station.
25. Please only use our main station messengers while doing your show or covering for someone else. You should not sign into these messengers during off air time, unless you are testing settings on your end or something of that nature. These messengers are for the station and for listeners to communicate with the broadcasters, and are not to be used for your own personal use at any time.
26. If you are broadcasting at an unscheduled time, please have something along the lines of automation in your title bar, or, if you wish to do an unscheduled show, please let at least a member of management know within 5 minutes prior to going on the air. Failure to consult a member of management of your random shows and simply go on the air with no warning and put on a show consisting of a title other than automation will get you one warning the first time, and termination from our station the second time it is done.
27. Just as it is important for you to show up for your own show as stated in rule number 2, if you agree to cover for another DJ, you should follow the same rules, and failure to do so will result in the same consequences that would arise if you do the no show thing with your own shows, etc. Also, if you are going to be away and unable to do your show for more than 2 weeks, or more than 5 to 7 days if you do more than 1 show a week, please either prerecord some shows to run or have archives of past shows available either via your folder on the FTP Server or via whatever method you submit your archives, and be sure they’ll be available should you use a method other than our server for uploading of your archives, make sure it’s available the entire time you will be away so if someone cannot cover for you with a live show, an archive or a prerecorded show can be run during your time slot. The only acception we will make to this rule is if an emergency has come up that causes you to be absent for a prolonged period of time, or if you have not been at our station as a broadcaster for longer than 30 days, and must be away for a long time within your second month with us. If you have been here for 3 months or more, and you have failed to provide us with archives and show content to run, then you’ve obviously broken the rule of making your archives available to the listeners, thus, you will be terminated, unless it just so happens that you broadcast at a time when another DJ can cover for you with a live show the entire time you are unable to be here.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us, and have a great day.
Syndicating is where you broadcast your show in 2 or more
places at the exact same time! For
example, you could be on both,
Yes, as that is where you will be uploading your archives for both, staff and listeners to download and check out!
Note: Only one account per person though, thank you.
As of Thursday, May 7, 2009, all staff members who are DJ’s on this station will be uploading their archives to our FTP Server, unless they have spoken privately with Management to provide other means of distributing their archives to the listeners.
We hope that you found these questions helpful, and please, always remember, if you have anymore questions, or you know of more questions that you think we ought to add to this FAQ’s Section, please don’t hesitate to contact our Management Team, with anymore questions you may have.
